To help you prepare for your trip, Delphi Watersports will walk you through what to expect when you go parasailing in Aruba with our team!

What is Parasailing?

Parasailing is a popular recreational activity where you are towed behind a water vehicle. In most cases, this would be a boat. You will be harnessed to a parasail that is attached to the boat by a long tow line. As the boat speeds up, you’ll be lifted hundreds of feet above the water and into the air. This gives you a unique vantage point to see the island’s coastline as well as nearby landmarks.

What To Expect When You Parasail in Aruba

When you arrive for your parasailing trip, you’ll first receive a comprehensive safety briefing. This includes instructions on the parasailing process, safety protocols, and hand signals you can use during the flight to communicate with the people inside the boat.

With the safety briefing done, you will be fitted with a safety harness and a life jacket. The harness will keep you securely attached to the parasail wing throughout the flight. Meanwhile, the life jacket will keep you safe and afloat should you find yourself in the water.

When you’re all geared up, the boat will tow you and gently lift you into the air. You can choose to fly solo or in tandem with another person, depending on your preference and weight restrictions. Each flight lasts around 10 minutes. Following the flight, a winch will gently lower you back onto the boat’s deck.

Are There Any Restrictions?

There are certain limitations to keep in mind before booking a parasailing activity in Aruba.

The minimum age for parasailing can change depending on the location and the operator. These are the general guidelines to follow:

  • Minimum Age: Some operators allow kids as young as five years old to parasail. But they must be accompanied by an adult or someone who is at least 13 years old.
  • Solo Parasailing: Generally, you should be at least 16 years old before you are allowed to parasail by yourself.
  • Parental Consent: If you are younger than 18 years old, you would most likely need to show parental or guardian consent before being allowed to parasail.

You should also weigh at least 180 pounds if you are a solo flyer and have a combined weight of up to 350 pounds for tandem flights.

We do not recommend parasailing for people with certain health conditions, including:

  • Heart problems
  • Back issues
  • Pregnancy
  • Asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Epilepsy or vertigo
  • Recent surgeries
  • High or low blood pressure

Furthermore, you cannot parasail when there are high winds or storms. This ensures you have a safe and memorable experience.
